- 300 g salami, sliced thin
- 8 slices country-style bread
- ½ cup (125 ml) onion confit with port (homemade or store bought)
- 8 slices Swiss cheese
- Butter, for cooking
- Place the 4 bread slices on a work surface and spread with a generous layer of onion confit.
- Add salami slices, then cheese and plenty of pepper, then close the sandwiches.
- Butter the exterior of the sandwiches and grill in a cast iron frying pan over medium heat.
- Serve piping hot.
