Make weeknight dinners easier with 5 quick recipes. Tasty ideas to eat well, even on busy evenings!

By Geneviève O’Gleman, author and host

We all know the scenario: the day flew by, rush hour tested our patience, and we come home tired—with everyone hungry. The challenge: finding the energy and inspiration to cook a good meal… without making life complicated. Here are a few ideas to help you get a nourishing dinner on the table in record time!

My secret: having the right staples on hand

The best way to save time is to rely on convenient ingredients. In my fridge and freezer, I always keep two essentials: frozen vegetables, picked at peak ripeness and ready to use, and marinated meats that are oven-ready. No peeling, no marinade prep, zero waste… and way less cleanup.

If that sounds helpful, I invite you to try Olymel’s marinated meats, like the Honey & Garlic Pork Tenderloin or the Smoked & Maple Turkey Breast. They’re excellent sources of protein—local, nutritious, and gluten-free. When time is short, they literally save dinner. Just pop them in the oven, add a quick side, and the meal is ready. The result: juicy, tender, and flavorful meat.

And in the freezer aisle, the new Bistro Style line from Arctic Gardens is a real favorite. Pre-cut, seasoned, and ready to cook, these veggie mixes can be roasted in the oven, sautéed in a pan, or even air-fried. It’s a huge time-saver and a simple way to get the whole family to enjoy vegetables.

5 Quick Weeknight Dinner Ideas

1. Express Raclette with Turkey and Grilled Veggies

A simplified version of the classic Savoyard dish!

I roast the Smoked & Maple Turkey Breast with the Bistro Style “Market Harvest” veggie mix. Once everything is nicely browned, I slice the turkey and return it to the baking sheet with the veggies. I top it with raclette cheese and broil for a few minutes. For a family-style meal, serve the tray in the center of the table with a green salad and fresh bread. Or make individual portions in small raclette pans. See full recipe here.

2. Gratin Sub Sandwiches with Pork and Veggies

I sauté Honey & Garlic Pork Tenderloin cubes with the Bistro Style “Garden Medley” mix. I add a bit of tomato sauce—just enough to coat—and fill sub rolls, top with Provolone cheese, and broil. A sprinkle of fresh basil to finish, and dinner is ready in 20 minutes.

3. Asian-Style Pork Stir-Fry

I slice the Honey & Garlic Pork Tenderloin into strips and stir-fry it in a bit of oil with the Bistro Style “Green Vegetables” mix. At the end of cooking, I add a splash of soy sauce and a touch of honey. Served over steamed rice and topped with sesame seeds or crushed cashews, it’s a quick meal everyone loves.

4. Warm Pitas with Smoked Turkey and Roasted Veggies

I cook the Smoked & Maple Turkey Breast with the Bistro Style “Garden Medley” mix, then slice everything thinly. I fill warm pita breads with the turkey and veggies, a bit of old-fashioned mustard, a drizzle of maple syrup, lettuce, and fresh herbs. Roll and serve. Who doesn’t love finger food?

5. Warm Tartines with Turkey, Veggies, and Pesto

I cook the Smoked & Maple Turkey Breast with the Bistro Style “Market Harvest” mix. Once cooked, I cube the turkey and place it on a baking sheet with the veggies. I toss everything with basil pesto. I spoon the mixture onto slices of toasted country bread, top with mozzarella, and broil. A tartine that’s both crispy and melty!

The Importance of Organization

Relying on convenient, quality ingredients is the key to surviving weeknights. With a bit of planning and a few staples in the fridge and freezer, home cooking becomes not only easier—but way less stressful.

My tip: Plan three meals ahead. It’ll save you those last-minute grocery runs!
