With applewood and blueberry maple sauce, you can work wonders! Serve this ham dish accompanied by tiny root vegetables and you'll make your mother-in-law's day.

ingredients

  • 1/2 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 30 ml (2 tablespoon) balsamic vinegar
  • to taste bay leaf
  • to taste pepper
  • 1 applewood Smoked Flavour Smoked Ham
  • 350 g fresh blueberries or frozen blueberries (thawed)
  • 125 ml (1/2 cup) water
  • 4 shallots, chopped
  • 250 ml (1 cup) maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 60 ml (1/4 cup) balsamic vinegar
  • to taste bay leaf
  • to taste pepper
  • 2 applewood Smoked Flavour Smoked Ham
  • 700 g fresh blueberries or frozen blueberries (thawed)
  • 250 ml (1 cup) water
  • 8 shallots, chopped
  • 500 ml (2 cups) maple syrup
  • 1 Olymel Applewood Smoked Flavour Smoked Ham, 50% less salt
  • 250 mL maple syrup
  • 125 mL water
  • 350 g fresh blueberries or frozen blueberries (thawed)
  • 4 shallots, chopped
  • Olive oil
  • Thyme, bay leaf
  • Freshly ground pepper

instructions

  1. Place ham in ovenproof pan. Add water, maple syrup , vinegar, thyme, bay leaf and pepper. Cover and cook in the oven at 350˚F (175˚C) for 45 minutes.
  2. Remove from oven and keep warm. Save pan juices and put through a strainer.
  3. Sauté shallots in a frying pan with olive oil. Add blueberries, cinnamon and pan juices. Reduce sauce to desired consistency.

Suggestion

Serve with mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables.
