Stewed ham with figs à l'orange

Ingredients
  • 1 piece of Olymel Traditional smoked ham, approximately 1 kg (2.2 lb)
  • 500ml (2 cups) pure orange juice
  • 500ml (2 cups) chicken broth
  • 20 - 24 dried figs
  • v2 shallots, chopped
  • Salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • 15ml (1 tablespoon) fresh, chopped ginger, or 5ml (1 teaspoon) ground ginger
 
Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Place the ham in a roaster. Then add the orange juice, broth, figs, shallots, salt and pepper.
  3. Sprinkle with ginger, cover and bake in the oven for 45 minutes. Serve the ham sliced with figs and in its own juices.
