- 1 whole Picnic ham, 2.8kg (6 1/4 lb)
- 1 garlic clove, chopped
- 1 onion, chopped roughly
- 1 341ml (1 1/3 cup) bottle beer of your choice
- 250ml (1 cup) chicken broth
- 30ml (2 tablespoons) marinating spices
- Ground black pepper to taste

- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Place the ham in a large ovenproof casserole dish.
- Add the remaining ingredients.
- Bring to a boil, cover, and bake in the oven for 3 hours or until the meat is tender. Add more water frequently while cooking. Remove the lid 20 minutes before the end of the cooking time
Slice the ham and serve with the vegetables of your choice. Note: Add vegetables (potatoes, carrots, turnip, green beans, etc.) to the broth while cooking to create a complete meal. |
